While this is a Fictional Movie, we aim for historical accuracy from Valley Forge through the Battle of Monmouth scenes, encampments and troop / camp follower life and movements.
These are very physical roles; you will be subjected to outdoor elements - bugs, heat, rain, etc, Some roles require you to walk uphill, down an embankment, cross a river in a long boat or barge and march the equivalent of 1 - 2 miles a day in full gear; dirty, sweaty, war weary. You may be asked to stand in one place for extended periods. Example, line up to march.
Soldiers may be asked to walk or run in full gear with cold weapons(muskets, bayonet, pistols, carbines) drawn during military training, a skirmish, or battle scene.
Soldiers may be asked to fall safely(stunt coordinators) from being "hit" by "staged" cannon shrapnel or musket fire in battle and may reflect, "wounds and death" made-up by SPFX Makeup Artist, on the battlefield and/or in field hospital.
Cast will be around animals to include horses, dogs, sheep, chickens, pigs and more. No actor will interact with any animal unless the role calls for such, and then will be coordinated with the Producer, Director and Animal Trainer.
Front line soldiers will be camera facing - noting authentic in age (15 - 40), stature and appearance (no facial hair, natural hair color, no visible tattoo's or piercings, etc.), height to weight proportionate noting a good number of soldiers were young and quite thin. Long hair is great, so is a buzz cut (they had lice).
There is no maximum age restriction for Background Soldiers. All other requirements noted above with few exceptions, please inquire. (natural hair color, no visible tattoo's or piercings, etc. a must.)
Camp followers - Female and Male - 18 - 70. battle worn and dirty attire, some of you will be barefoot. Height to weight proportionate. This is also a physical role, please reference above.
Seeking authentic tradesmen, as well: washer women, seamstresses, carpenters, blacksmiths, forgemen, coopers, smiths, wheelwrights, saddlers, wagoners, bellowmakers, rope and tent-makers, nailers, and sutlers. Malcontents, scallywags, scoundrels, and women of the lower social orders. Children over 4 will be considered who can accurately portray the times alongside their parent camp follower.
No babies or toddlers under 4 please, those roles will be cast separately and only after the project is fully funded, shoot locations and schedule confirmed. Please do not submit now. We will send out another announcement, to receive please sign up for Get Movie Updates, below.
